God Has been dealing with me about the need to constantly ask him for WISDOM.
The big scripture passage for wisdom is James 1:5-8:
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
In addition there are TONS of passages all throughout Proverbs. In fact it’s been said many times that all business people should read Proverbs through every month (and it matches up as a chapter per daily devotional).
Applying Knowledge
We all have KNOWLEDGE directly from the Bible.
Wisdom is when you know how to apply that knowledge to your daily life.
Wisdom is NOT The Same for Everyone
We might not all have the same application. For example when God says everything you put your hand to will prosper, we’re not all called to put our hands to the same thing.
The biggest mistake I see believers make (that’s not a sin of course) is to try to fashion their Christian walk exactly like someone elses.
They should learn from their mentors, but they are not called to be like anyone else. They are a unique individual that’s made in the image of God. God has so many facets and part of His nature that we can’t even fully understand Him, but all of us put together doing our jobs as He has called us to are to be His example to the world.
This is both a blessing and a “curse” for the church.
Paul said that one is called to plant while another is called to water. With our different jobs we sometimes can get mad at each other because people don’t see things our way.
Yet God never intended them to see it our way.
God’s Word Is True… Always
What God has put in His Word is true for everyone 100% of the time.
But we may have slightly different applications in our life of how it affects us and moves us.
You’ll notice God was very specific about His Laws…but He wasn’t always specific about applications.
That’s because of each of us having that different purpose.
Godly Wisdom and His Love
If you look in world today, you can see we have hundreds of denominations...which we all use to divide ourselves up. But perhaps instead of us looking at it as division, maybe we should look at these differences as God’s overall nature being revealed through the different groups.
We won’t all agree ever on this earth (even Paul and Silas didn’t), but we can all walk in love toward each other.
And that’s some major wisdom right there…much easier to say than to live out daily.
This is also a way to destroy all racism. Every person (both male and female from every race) is made in the image of God. Again His nature is so vast we have trouble thinking in these terms so overall – the entire body of Christ – is His image.
Why We Don’t Experience Wisdom in Our Lives
I just wrote an detailed message on “How To Find Blessing In An Economic Recession” on my missions website. I mentioned that wisdom is a prerequsite if we want to be blessed in everything we touch.
So Why don’t more people experience wisdom in their daily living?
I think the reason we block out the wisdom of God from our daily life comes down to a few major principles, and I’ll cover them in my next article….
